Account Deletion Request
This page explains how you can request deletion of your THRASH NZ account and what happens to your data.
01 HOW TO DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT
Open the THRASH NZ app on your device.
Sign in to your account using your email and password.
Navigate to the Profile tab (bottom navigation).
Tap SETTINGS, then scroll to the Danger Zone section.
Tap "DELETE MY ACCOUNT".
Type "DELETE" in the confirmation field to verify.
Tap "DELETE FOREVER" to permanently remove your account.
CAN'T ACCESS THE APP?
If you can't log in to the app, you can request account deletion by emailing us:
thrash.newzealand@gmail.comPlease include the email address associated with your THRASH NZ account so we can verify and process your request. We aim to respond within 48 hours.
DATA DELETION POLICY
DATA THAT IS DELETED
The following data is permanently removed from our database when you delete your account:
- ▸Profile information (name, username, bio, avatar)
- ▸Saved favourite spots & locations
- ▸Condition alert preferences
- ▸Forum posts, replies & tips
- ▸Event attendance history
- ▸Trip itineraries & saved trips
- ▸Friend/crew connections
DATA THAT IS RETAINED
The following data may be retained for legal, security, or operational purposes:
- ▸Anonymised location submissions (if already approved & public)
- ▸Payment/billing records (retained for 7 years per NZ tax law)
- ▸Security & audit logs (retained for 90 days)
RETENTION PERIOD
Account deletion is processed immediately upon confirmation. Personal data is permanently removed within 24 hours. Retained data (listed above) is kept only for the duration required by law or security purposes, then automatically purged.
IRREVERSIBLE ACTION
Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Once deleted, your account, saved data, and activity history cannot be recovered. You will need to create a new account to use THRASH NZ again.
